One of four networking groups we run in the local area, the #UPSocialMedia Network is for Social Media Managers working at businesses in King’s Cross, Euston & St Pancras.

Originally founded by St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in 2014 as #StPancrasSocial, the Urban Partners Social Media network (#UPSocialMedia Network) is a group of over 75 social media managers representing businesses in the King’s Cross, St Pancras and Euston areas. The aim of the network is to bring social media managers together to help and inspire them to promote the local area across their respective social channels.

Members span a range of industries from hospitality, retail and music to art, business and transport. Current members include social media managers from Eurostar, British Library, Wellcome Collection, House of Illustration, The Lighterman, Tileyard Studios and Kings Place.

Key Objectives of the Network

  • To create an engaged network of social media managers representing businesses in the local area
  • To hold 4 quarterly masterclasses (per year) with social media experts
  • To help facilitate meet ups, whereby members can showcase their business to other members
  • To run social media campaigns to promote the local area that all members take part in

The #UPSocialMedia Network hosts 4 Masterclasses a year with social media experts. These are an opportunity to hear from the people at the top of their game and gain insight and inspiration as to how to better use social media to promote their businesses. Past speakers have included Dave Burt (founder of @London Instagram account), Dolly Jones (Digital Editor for the Conde Nast group) and Martin Belam (Head of Social and New Formats at The Guardian). Each masterclass incorporates a group activity to ensure all members are actively participating in promoting the local area online. Previous group activities have included Tweet Chats and an Insta Meet photo challenge.

Throughout the year, the #UPSocialMedia Network helps facilitate Meet Ups. These are an opportunity for members to invite a group of local social media managers into their business to show them what they do (with the understanding that attendees will promote that business on their social media accounts!). Previous meet ups have included an escapology session at Hint Hunt, wine tasting at The Greek Larder and an iPhone photography class in MI + ME.

The #UPSocialMedia Network also runs specific social media campaigns that members can join in with and benefit from wider reach and engagement. These include activities such as the #LoveFromKingsCross photo competition held last year, which reached an audience of nearly 1 million.
