A Message from Urban Partners on COVID-19

Firstly, we hope you are all well and safe in this extremely challenging time. As we all adjust to the changing situation we find ourselves in, as individuals and as businesses, we want to ensure we continue to communicate with our Urban Partners members, their employees and the wider King’s Cross, Euston and St Pancras community. Although we are a voluntary business partnership, our members remain committed to delivering on our core priorities to the best of their current abilities as the situation around the Coronavirus develops.

• Supporting our Businesses (Representing our Businesses)
• Supporting our Employees (Benefiting Employees)
• Supporting the Next Generation (Engaging the Next Generation)

We are aware that businesses large and small, as well as their employees, are already feeling the impacts of COVID-19. We are closely following government updates on any options that are being made available to you and your business that we hope will support our members and their employees during this time.

Urban Partners COVID-19 Priorities

Urban Partners has developed a robust action plan detailing the best course of action we can take as a business partnership to provide crucial support during the coronavirus situation. Key priorities for the coming months include:

Local Authorities and Charities – Support local charities, authorities and the Greater London Authority wherever possible, including working on the delivery of Islington and Camden council’s Covid-19 action plans to support vulnerable people and working with members to provide councils with vital supplies (such as PPE and hotel accommodation).

Camden Giving – Promote our volunteering partner Camden Giving’s Camden Covid-19 Charity Fund through our established comms channels and circulate essential virtual volunteering opportunities to our large community database.

Homelessness Alliance – Mobilise the alliance in partnership with UCL, Somerstown Community Centre and local charities to help the rough sleeping community through the coronavirus situation and beyond.

Collaboration and Partnership – Work with and align to the activities of our member businesses and key local organisations such as Euston Town BID, Camden Town Unlimited, Global Generation and the local charities so that we are all working towards shared goals.

Engagement and Events – Engage our Urban Partners community through online events, tutorials and webinars that promote wellbeing and reduce isolation and are delivered in partnership with local small businesses that desperately need our support.

Expertise and Advice – Use the vast resources and expertise of our members and partners to provide informative webinars for employees and small businesses.

Communications – Repurpose our communication channels to support the above priorities and focus solely on relevant COVID-19 information, including those most relevant to our communities in King’s Cross, Euston and St Pancras, ways of supporting small businesses and promoting initiatives in the local community and beyond. We’ll also change our monthly newsletter into a condensed weekly bulletin. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] if we can help by promoting your business or initiatives on social media or in our newsletter.

Youth Engagement – Continue our work to support the next generation virtually through an online version of The Homework Club, as well as mentoring and masterclasses for young people. This is subject to safeguarding and the security of software to be used. We will reach out to local schools for any support we can provide for home schooling and will support local authorities on ways to reduce the inequality gap in education that’s further felt by the effects of the coronavirus.

During this unprecedented time, Urban Partners will deliver on our action plan but will also continue working towards our wider priorities. A key focus for the business partnership is sustainability and we are continuing to work collaboratively on projects that will contribute improved sustainability initiatives and offerings across the King’s Cross, Euston and St Pancras area.

We will be updating our website with more information in the coming days and weeks and communicating regular progress updates and events programmes with our community through our comms channels.

Please stay safe, take care of yourselves, your loved ones and one another. Together we will get through this. Please also do get in touch via [email protected] if you have any suggestions for other ways we can be of help, provide support or if have something you’d like us to promote on social media.
