What a way to end the year!

On 14 December, Urban Partners held their first Christmas Choir Showcase to celebrate the incredible vocal talents of local area companies.

Compered by Father Christmas himself, and held in the incredible Kings Place, the night welcomed 4 choirs to the stage to perform a varied repertoire of seasonal, pop and classical favourites.

The Guardian Angels warmed up the crowd with beautiful renditions of Nocturn, The Garden and then an upbeat version of Away in a Manager before PRS for Music took to the stage singing Elenore, Don’t Stop (til you get lucky) and a highly amusing version of The 12 Days of Christmas which got everyone laughing!

After a group sing-a-long, it was back to the professionals with the Grant Thornton Choir impressing with their more international collection of songs including Siahamba/Shosholoza and Es ist ein Ros Ensprungen before finishing with the more traditional Beyond the Sea.

Kings Place Choir ended the evening with the hauntingly beautiful Tori Amos song, Winter, before speeding up the tempo with Elton John’s Tiny Dancer.

The audience was up on their feet again for the final group sing-a-long with Santa before heading to the bar to revitalise the vocal chords.

In addition to raising nearly £900, split between 2 local charities (New Horizon and The Parent House) the event made the prestigious number 1 spot on The Guardian’s Voluntary Sector Network advent calendar.

We hope to see you all again next year !
